The Tongtai GT 5-Axis trunnion table machining center series delivers outstanding overall performance and value for the complex machining of mold, die, aerospace, and medical parts. Along with precision comes speed with rapid traverse rates of 1,890/min in all axes reduce non-cutting times.
At the heart of the machine is the Japanese built trunnion table. The tilt / rotary table utilizes high torque, high speed, direct drive torque motors and hydraulic clamping. High speed rotation of the rotary axis and in the tilt axis reduces cycle time.
About the Tongtai GT Series:
The Tongtai GT Series features strength from a heavy meehanite casting. Precision comes from large roller type linear guideways in the linear axes and a unique, no backlash roller gear mechanism in tilt and rotary axes. Large diameter double anchored and pre-tensioned ballscrews along with least increment input of .0001mm/ .00001 allows positioning accuracy of +/-.00012 and repeatability of .0001 (with scales).
Along with precision comes speed. Rapid traverse rates of 1,890/min in all axes reduce non-cutting times. Powerful servo motors are direct coupled to the large diameter ballscrews. The Y-Axis features twin ballscrews in synchronization to drive the machine at the center of gravity (DCG). The Z-Axis produces a high thrust ratio for drilling. A precision, powerful, 30HP (Fanuc) / 52HP (Heidenhain), 15,000 RPM integral spindle provides both low end torque and high speed finishing ability. The spindle is available in both Big Plus 40 taper or HSK-63A. Integral spindles at speeds of 18K, 20K, or 24K RPM are also available. The standard spindle is equipped with thermal and vibration protection. In addition, spindle thermal compensation software is standard.
At the heart of the machine is the roller drive trunnion table. Utilizing the unique, patented roller gear drive (as opposed to a worm gear or direct drive), high torque, high speed, and superior clamping capability is accomplished. High speed rotation on the rotary axis and significant RPMs in the tilt axis reduces cycle time. Since this is a preloaded system with NO BACKLASH, the roller gear drive delivers outstanding accuracy of +/- 5.6 arc seconds and repeatability of only +/- 3 arc seconds utilizing the standard high accuracy rotary scales. A rotary union to supply hydraulics for fixtures is standard! Optionally, the C axis rotary table can be equipped with a high torque, high speed, direct drive torque motor and hydraulic clamping. High speed rotation on the rotary axis reduces cycle time.
The GT Series features an excellent mechanical design. The fixed table gantry type design features a patented slide system that is driven at the center of gravity (DCG). DCG provides high speed movement and dynamic stability. The machine design is compact and ergonomic. The center trough, rear discharge chip conveyor allows complete and efficient removal of chips.
The standard ATC is extremely reliable and changes tools in only a few seconds! The ATC is mounted in the center rear of the machine for easy maintenance and is easily accessible for changing out tools. This design minimizes the machine footprint, saving valuable floor space.
An impressive list of standard features includes a center trough directly under the trunnion table that discharges chips into a caterpillar type conveyor utilizing high volume chip flushing at the right side of the machine, a high volume 200 gallon coolant system, and a full machine enclosure (including the top) to contain chips and coolant. Your choice of Fanuc controls provides the ideal combination for all types of application. The Fanuc 31iM-B is standard for most job shop and high speed 3-D applications, using the machine in a 4 + 1 axis mode where the 5th axis is positioning only. The Fanuc 31iM-B5 is available for applications requiring simultaneous 5 axis contouring. Both controls feature the new Alpha I servo system with 1,000,000 pulse encoders. The fully loaded Heidenhain iTNC-640 is also available for high performance full 5-Axis machining.
